Gemini Twins

One of my favorite recent shoots was a Gemini-themed photo session, full of duality and mystery, at the beautiful Serne Studios in Tempe. This session was especially exciting for me because I’m always drawn to creative photography that lets me step beyond traditional portraiture and into something more imaginative, where storytelling takes the lead. As a photographer based in Mesa and surrounding areas, I love taking on unique, fantasy-themed projects, and this one was no exception.

For this shoot, I wanted to capture the essence of the Gemini twins. Soleil and Solimar were the perfect models for this session. They both exude professionalism and talent with every pose, while also having bright and creative personalities. They really helped bring my ideas to life. The symbolism of the twins in astrology is all about contrasts: light and dark, calm and chaotic, two sides of the same coin. To capture this idea, I created two separate gowns that would mirror each other but also have distinct differences, showcasing the dual nature of the Gemini sign. One side was bright, clean, and minimalist, with soft white, representing the lighter, more playful side of the Gemini personality. The other gown embraced darker tones, with moody shadows, hinting at the mysterious, introspective side of the twins.

Working with my models, we explored poses that emphasized reflection and balance, sometimes mirroring the poses but subtly shifting an arm or a gaze to hint at the twin dynamic.

The studio’s flexibility allowed me to experiment with a lot of creative techniques, from lighting effects that highlighted both setups to adding some subtle props that played into the fantasy theme without distracting from the main concept. A large mirror was one of the standout props, symbolizing reflection and duality, and it made for some captivating shots where the models were captured at interesting angels.
