A Twilight-Inspired Fantasy Photoshoot: Creating the Perfect Newborn Vampire Vibe

As a Phoenix and Mesa photographer, I love the challenge of bringing fantasy concepts to life—especially when the setting isn’t exactly what you’d expect. Recently, I had the opportunity to do a Twilight-inspired fantasy photoshoot, and let me tell you, the vibes were impeccable.

We may not live in Washington, but that didn’t stop us from capturing the eerie, cinematic feel of the Twilight saga. Instead of lush, misty forests, we embraced the dry, almost lifeless scenery of our Arizona landscape, using it to enhance the chilling, dangerous energy of a newborn vampire theme. And honestly? It worked even better than expected.

Finding the Perfect Twilight Vibes in Arizona

When you think of Twilight, you picture the foggy woods of Forks, Washington. But since Arizona doesn’t come with built-in mist and towering evergreens, we had to get creative. I scouted a location with barren trees, pale grass, and just the right amount of gloom to set the mood. The overcast sky that day was an unexpected bonus, adding to the cold, eerie feel that made it easy to imagine a vampire lurking nearby.

The key to making this shoot work was embracing what we had—moody lighting, desaturated tones, and a location that felt desolate enough to match the danger of a newborn vampire on the loose. Rather than fight against the Arizona scenery, we used it to enhance the theme.

The Model & Styling: Channeling That Twilight Energy

Bonnie, my incredible client for this session, completely embodied the dark, mysterious energy of Twilight’s world. Her styling was flawless—dark, smudged eye makeup, tousled waves, and a wardrobe that screamed immortal with an edge. She wore the perfect wardrobe that stood out beautifully against the washed-out landscape, evoking the signature color palette of the Twilight movies.

Her expressions and poses were absolutely on point—intense, alluring, and just a little dangerous. From fierce, stalking movements to brooding, still moments, she truly brought the newborn vampire aesthetic to life. It was like a scene straight from Eclipse, where newborn vampires roam in search of their next victim.
